How we met
The story of
No one knows exactly how Caroline and Eli first met. They attended UNC Chapel Hill at the same time, lived in the same dorm, and took the same Ultimate Frisbee required fitness class which they both regularly skipped. They had similar friend groups, but never quite crossed paths.
After university, Caroline moved to Berlin for six years, and it wasn’t until Eli’s band, which happened to contain several of Caroline’s old friends, went to Ireland for the first time that they met at a wizard themed pop up bar.
Caroline came back to the country right before a small global pandemic locked everything down. When things started letting up, Caroline would visit the cafe Eli worked at for therapeutic lavender lattes. Many free coffee’s later, she realized she might have a shot with this young barista, and Caroline asked Eli out. After a day or two of working up his courage, Eli agreed.
The rest is history! After many adventures in many places, adopting their little crew of rescue animals, and a lot of good music and laughter later, they are so happy to welcome you to their wedding.
Our Home
Our home is located on 11 acres of North Carolina woodland, nestled between Saxapahaw and Graham. When we first found this 130 year old house, it was broken in nearly every way. We’ve spent the last two years putting it back together with the help of so many of you. We can’t think of a better place to celebrate than in this place we have built together.
Frequently
asked Questions
-
There will be onsite parking, but encourage carpooling when possible!
-
We recommend one of many lovely airbnb spots in Hillsborough or the surrounding area. Graham also has some great hotels if you’d like to be closer, and you are also welcome to camp on the land if that is your predilection.
-
Ahhh… it could be anything! October in North Carolina is typically dry with highs in the 70s/80s, and lows in the 50-65 range. That being said, NC is known for serving up 3 seasons in a day.
-
In the event of rain we will move the ceremony and festivities into the large tent!
-
Our field is on a gentle slope with grass, and while it is not rough terrain, there may be a few naturally uneven spots. We will have a drop-off point at the entrance to reduce walking to vehicles, and a golf cart onsite. The terrain is not well suited for wheelchair use. Bathrooms are all ADA compliant!
-
We plan on being enthusiastically fancy, but we recommend comfortable shoes and something you can dance in. In other words, semi formal.
The Registry
